Bonaparte’s Tomb, Paris. Oil on Canvas 350x460mm 
 
Napoleon Bonaparte died on the 2nd April, 1861 and buried at the Les Invalides Paris , next to Auguste Rodin, the sculptors house and studio.
 
I was fascinated with the beautiful topiary of the garden around the tomb. The well manicured conical shape of the bushes reflect the shape of the dome of the tomb. 
 
there is debate as to whether Napoleon did good or harm for France but he did save France from the chaos of the French Revolution. But regardless he is a part of the foundational history of France. For me these solid conical shapes and the tomb represent stability.
