Napoleans Tomb Paris
  • Bonaparte’s Tomb, Paris. Oil on Canvas 350x460mm

Napoleon Bonaparte died on the 2nd April, 1861 and buried at the Les Invalides Paris , next to Auguste Rodin, the sculptors house and studio.

I was fascinated with the beautiful topiary of the garden around the tomb. The well manicured conical shape of the bushes reflect the shape of the dome of the tomb.

  • there is debate as to whether Napoleon did good or harm for France but he did save France from the chaos of the French Revolution. But regardless he is a part of the foundational history of France. For me these solid conical shapes and the tomb represent stability.
