Spring Delight

Spring Delight    Oil on Canvas    500x400mm

Blooming, fresh from the garden, roses and odds and ends picked from the late summer garden set on a floral backdrop.

When you paint there is no guarantee of the end result.   Having good technical skills does not necessarily guarantee the painting will work.    This painting reveals the magic that happens when you let go of preconceived ideas of what you want the painting to be or do.   The technique of letting the thin layer of underpaint create dimension and depth allows for the thicker more detailed, in-focus parts to jump.  This is what this paint does.  My satisfaction comes from allowing the painting to emerge as I follow what the subject is saying to me.
