This painting belongs to a period of my work when Still Life settings were used to enhance the floral tributes I loved to paint.  I enjoy including floral drapery to integrate the flowers so as not to make them too hard edge and not to make them separate from their environment.  This way I honour the tradition of Still Life which is the foundation of good painting practice.
