The human capacity for compassion is a complex and can be demonstrated in many different ways.  I have spent some time considering the construction of this social contract.    It seems to me that it takes at least two people, one to be the giver and one to be the receiver.   In my experience it is often easier to be the giver than the receiver.   I have also noticed that when you fully look into the ‘others eyes’ you see the reflection of yourself in their eyes.
 
The golden glazes of oil and paint create a rich mirror of colour on which flakes of gold leaf are scattered  giving the painting an illumination.
