Norman Bay

Norman Bay, Wilson’s Promontory, South Gippsland, Victoria, Australia

 300x300mm    Oil on Linen

I sat on the beach in Norman Bay, Wilsons Promontory, on a summers day in February to do this painting.   The ‘Prom’ was the place we came to on our family holidays in my childhood.  Holding many happy memories of sand,  surf,  swimming, bush walks, mountain climbing, and camping.  Its pristine natural environment is protected as a natural park with many Australian species of flora and fauna and it is the most southern point of the Australian coast.

Norman Bay is a heart-shaped bay feed by the main artery of the Tidal River outlet   Fluctuating between high and low tide making it an interesting playground for us children with deep water pools and shallow rock pools.
